Thank you for your interest in Sea Ranch Artist Residency (SRAR). As a program of Gualala Arts, SRAR is an invitational residency open to visual artists, performance artists, architects, designers, writers, poets, dancers, scientists & thinkers with the goal of exploring ideas that matter through time spent absorbing the unique environment of The Sea Ranch. In addition to the residency program, SRAR hosts lectures and events in partnership with local organizations.

Sea Ranch Artist Residency (SRAR) strives to meet the potential of the 21st Century by working with artists and intellectuals from a variety of disciplines to develop an Artist Residency Program, located at The Sea Ranch, California. Founded in 2021, SRAR is designed to encourage diverse individual expression, provoke critical examination of relevant issues and foster an atmosphere enriching the spirit of our community to ensure a creative and meaningful future for generations to come. SRAR is a program of Gualala Arts, a nonprofit organization which is serving as fiscal agent.

SRAR is an invitational residency that aims to Support artists by simply providing them with an opportunity to visit a magical place and create. We offer flexible schedules, basic funds, time, space and inspiration. SRAR chooses Artists of the highest caliber, global in outlook and practice, established & emerging, representing the full range of creative disciplines including architecture, design, film, media, performing arts, writing, and more. Exploration is the central tenet of the residency. Artists may investigate specific concerns of our time or more universal themes such as the role of wonder and awe. As a unique opportunity for the participating artists, SRAR will marshal resource specialists, at the artist’s request, to serve as project advisors which may include psychologists, scientists, educators, or other expertise that would be of value for the artist. Ideas that matter are both local and global in reach. They are ideas that must be investigated and considered in an effort to communicate, improve, document or critique the current moment both in this place and in the world.

Please note SRAR in your donation to apply funds to this specific program.
