Gualala Arts Promoting public interest and participation in the arts since 1961
Celebrate the season with CoastSing’s winter concert on Sunday Dec. 13, 4pm. Directed by Sue Bohlin, it features an eclectic mix of styles, genres, and musical personalities.
The program highlights a robust tenor and bass section with chart topping songs by Shaboozey, Michael Jackson, and Compay Segundo. The always harmonious sopranos and altos will present a beautiful American Indian spirit song.
The birth of Jesus of Nazareth will be celebrated with an early setting (c.1500) of Hodie Christus Natus Est (Christ is Born Today) by Jean Mouton.
We’ll say goodbye to Autumn Time with a nod to Greek mythology, and say hello to 2027 with
A New Year Carol by English composer Benjamin Britten.
We’ll go Down to the River to Pray from the movie “Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?” And we’ll visit France with a popular “chanson” by National Medal of Arts winner, Morten Lauridsen.
Sue Bohlin took over direction of CoastSing (formerly the Coastal Singers) in 2017 and has put her musical stamp on the group ever since. She and her husband, conductor Robert Geary, are in the Congressional Record of the 118th Congress, presented by former Congresswoman and current Oakland Mayor, Barbara Lee, for their service in the field of professional choral music.
CoastSing practices on Mondays 4:30-6:30pm. For more information please contact Sue Bohlin at 707-412-3232.
