Spotlight on Salt Point State Park

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all nature walk—it’s two distinct ways to plug into the landscape, depending on your mood (and your legs).

Slow Saunter on Saturday, May 30th
Strenuous Hike on Sunday, June 7 – 9am at Stump Beach Parking Lot

Slow Saunter on Saturday, May 30th (aesthetic, observant, unhurried)
Start with a low-key coastal wander out to Stump Beach. Think wildflowers doing their seasonal thing, salty air, and wide-open ocean views that basically demand you put your phone on airplane mode (or at least use it for film photos only). The pace is easy, the vibe is reflective. It wraps with a guided nature journaling session led by Karen Wilkinson—less “art class,” more “noticing things you’d normally scroll past.” Sketch, jot, linger. No rush.

The Strenuous Hike on Sunday, June 7  (sweaty, exploratory, a little brag-worthy)
If you’re here to earn your views, this is your route. This hike moves through a patchwork of ecosystems—meadows, transitions, climbs—before pushing up to a ridge-top prairie that feels quietly off the map. Led by Harmony Susalla, it’s part workout, part ecological deep dive, and fully a chance to see a side of Salt Point most people miss.

Whether you’re in the mood to meander or to grind uphill for your payoff, Spotlight on Salt Point lets you choose your own pace—and still come away feeling like you actually experienced the place, not just passed through it.

Both walks begin at 9am and June 7 hike will meet up at Stump Beach parking lot BUT will be canceled IF there is heavy rain that morning.
