Gualala Arts invites the community to discover the full creative potential of the camera they carry every day—their iPhone. Acclaimed photography instructors Susan and Neil Silverman will lead a dynamic, hands‑on Creative iPhone Photography Workshop on Saturday, February 28, from 10 am to 4 pm at the Gualala Arts Center.
Registration is $115 for Gualala Arts members and $145 for non‑members. Participants may sign up online at GualalaArts.org or in person at the Gualala Arts front desk by February 23. Gualala Arts retains a $35 cancellation fee, no refunds after the Sign Up By date of February 23.
The iPhone has become one of the most powerful and accessible photographic tools available today. Whether capturing everyday moments or dramatic landscapes, its intuitive features allow photographers of all levels to expand their creativity.
In this immersive workshop, participants will explore the full capabilities of the iPhone camera through guided discussion, demonstrations, and hands‑on practice. Topics include:
- Camera settings and adjustments
- Filters, exposure, and focus
- Shutter speed and lens options, including best use of multiple lenses
- Techniques for panoramas, macro photography, close‑ups, and portraits
- Compositional strategies to elevate visual storytelling
Throughout the day, Susan and Neil will emphasize the artistic side of photography—how to use composition, lighting, and narrative intention to create compelling images.
About the Instructors: Susan and Neil Silverman
As a husband‑and‑wife team, you have been “captured” by photography for more than twenty‑five years—teaching, leading workshops, and working professionally across many venues. You love guiding others through every aspect of creating a memorable photograph: techniques, technical choices, lighting, composition, and opening new avenues of photographic discovery.
You have taught for the Gualala Arts Center, Santa Rosa Junior College, Pacific Northwest Art School, Point Reyes Field Institute, Great American Photography Workshop (GAPW), Better Photo, and numerous photography clubs and organizations. For you, sharing knowledge, experiences, and camaraderie is just as important as “getting the shot.”
