Vox Aurea

Gualala Arts is honored to welcome back Vox Aurea, the internationally celebrated children’s and youth choir from Jyväskylä, Finland, for a special Global Harmony Concert on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at 7 pm at the Gualala Arts Center.

Tickets are $20 in advance and +$5 on the day of the concert. General Admission tickets are available at Gualala Arts, the Dolphin Gallery, and online at GualalaArts.org.  $100 sponsor tickets with select seating available online only.

The choir consists of 50 singers aged 11 to 19. Before joining Vox Aurea, the singers typically perform in preparatory choirs, which are open to children from the age of three. The choir’s vocal coach is Josefiina Fagerlund. Alongside its educational work, Vox Aurea actively engages in local, national, and international collaboration, while also promoting Finnish and international choral music. Commissioning new works from contemporary composers is an established part of the choir’s activity. Their most recent recording, Pato (released in December 2020), features a collection of works commissioned by Vox Aurea during the 2010s.

Collaboration with youth choirs from different countries is an essential part of Vox Aurea’s work. Through these exchanges, the choir has broadened its repertoire, deepened its understanding of choral traditions across cultures, and further developed its pedagogical and strategic practices.

A spirit of experimentation and a holistic approach to artistic expression, combined with a warm sense of community, are central to the choir’s identity.

In recent years, Vox Aurea has had the privilege of working with choreographer Daniel Raaflaub from Basel, Switzerland, whose contribution has elevated the choir’s expressive performance to a new level.”

This rare West Coast appearance offers audiences an opportunity to experience one of the world’s most respected youth choirs in an intimate setting.
