Dolphin Gallery is delighted to welcome back local artist Angelina Wilson for her second solo exhibition, Life’s Romantic Scramble, opening Saturday, April 4, with a public reception from 1 to 3 PM. The community is warmly invited to meet the artist and explore her vibrant new collection, on view through April 26.
This latest body of work marks a bold and expressive shift in Wilson’s artistic journey. Known for her compelling portraiture, Wilson has pivoted toward a more eclectic and playful exploration of subject matter—embracing flowers, animals, statues, food, and everyday objects with fresh curiosity and joy. “These weren’t my go-to subjects,” Wilson shares. “But I started calling them ‘Scramble paintings’—a mix of things I find interesting.” Inspired by her grandmother, the exhibition’s title reflects both the spontaneity and emotional resonance of the collection.
Rendered in a collage-like style with vivid colors and layered textures, Life’s Romantic Scramble invites viewers to linger, discover, and delight in the unexpected. Each piece is a celebration of Wilson’s love for acrylics and her evolving artistic voice.
Wilson began painting in high school, first tackling historical figures for a class project. Her passion for acrylics led to her debut solo show, Women of the World, in 2023. With Life’s Romantic Scramble, she continues to expand her repertoire and challenge herself creatively.
Visitors to Dolphin Gallery can expect a captivating and immersive experience—one that encourages close looking and rewards curiosity. Come stay awhile, take in every detail, and leave feeling inspired.
