The Gualala Arts Chamber Music Series will present violinist Julian Rhee and pianist Angela Yoffe in concert on Sunday, April 18, 2027 at 4 p.m. at the Gualala Arts Center. Tickets are $35 in advance, +$5 day of, and available at Gualala Arts, the Dolphin Gallery, and GualalaArts.org.
Yoffe, praised for her exceptional sensitivity and virtuosity, has built an international career spanning major halls across the United States, Europe, Japan, and Canada. Born in Riga and trained in Israel and the United States, she has appeared with orchestras including the Seattle Symphony, Omaha Symphony, Hamburg Symphony, and Stuttgart Radio Orchestra, collaborating with conductors such as Gerard Schwarz and Sebastian Lang-Lessing. A seasoned chamber musician, she has performed in New York, Washington, Chicago, Berlin, Paris, Geneva, Rome, and Tokyo, and is a prizewinner of multiple international competitions.
Rhee, the 2024 Avery Fisher Career Grant recipient, has quickly become one of the most compelling young violinists of his generation. Known for his expressive lyricism and commanding stage presence, he has performed with leading orchestras across North America, Europe, and Asia, including the Belgian National Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Oregon Symphony, and Stuttgarter Kammerorchester. His 2026–27 season features debuts with the Gürzenich-Orchester and La Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia, along with return engagements with the Richmond, Milwaukee, and Brevard symphonies. Rhee’s rise to prominence accelerated after major wins at the Queen Elisabeth Competition and the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, adding to an already distinguished list of awards and festival appearances. He performs on the 1699 “Lady Tennant” Stradivari violin, on generous loan from the Mary B. Galvin Foundation and the Stradivari Society.
Their Gualala program brings together two artists celebrated for their depth, virtuosity, and musical insight—an afternoon of world-class chamber music on the Mendocino Coast.
