Meadow as Muse

Presented by Karen Wilkinson

Opens May 8 from 4-6 pm, exhibit up through June 7

Gualala Arts Center Coleman Hall

Meadow as Muse invites visitors into an exhibition where art, science, and curiosity meet in the wild beauty of local landscapes. Curated by Karen Wilkinson, the show opens May 8 from 4 to 6 p.m. and continues through June 7.  Here, meadows aren’t just backdrops—they’re creative collaborators.

Local artists and designers dig into the ecology of meadows, not just observing, but experimenting, discovering, and making alongside nature. Through close-up encounters with plants, animals, and ecosystems, we’ll explore how place shapes perception—and how art and design can spark new ways of seeing.

Expect a playful mashup of materials and methods—from drawing and painting to digital media, writing, photography, architecture, and even food. Surprise and delight are part of the process, and curiosity leads the way.

We’re inviting you to join in: visit one of the featured meadows, create something inspired by your experience, and share it with us #GAS #MeadowAsMuse.

Plus, don’t miss our weekly programs: hands-on workshops, nature walks, along with artist and scientist talks—all designed to bring learning and creativity together in real time. Let’s tinker, explore, and make some meadow magic.
