Blue Marble

Organized by Bia Gayotto and David "Sus" Susalla to celebrate Earth Day week

Call to Artist Deadline February 25

Opens Friday, April 10 from 4-6 pm, up through May 3

Gualala Arts Grounds

In celebration of Earth Day week, Gualala Arts presents Blue Marble 2026, an environmental art exhibition organized by Bia Gayotto and David “Sus” Susalla. The show opens April 10 and runs through May 3 on the Gualala Arts Grounds, inviting visitors to reflect on the beauty and fragility of our planet through the lens of contemporary art.

The exhibition takes its name from the iconic 1972 photograph captured by the Apollo 17 spacecraft—a full view of Earth from space that resembled a shimmering blue marble. This image, the first of its kind, became a symbol of unity and environmental awareness, helping to spark the first Earth Day celebrations in the 1970s.

Now, more than five decades later, Earth Day continues to inspire over a billion people worldwide to take action in support of environmental protection. As Earth Day turns 56 in 2026, Blue Marble offers a timely opportunity to reflect on our collective impact and the urgent need for stewardship.

Artists working in a 3D medium are invited to submit works that explore themes of climate change, ecology, and environmental justice. The exhibition will create a dynamic, multidisciplinary celebration of Earth and its future.

The deadline for submissions is February 25.
