The Gualala Arts Chamber Music Series presents rising violist Pearl de la Motte, winner of the 2024 Klein International String Competition, in concert with celebrated pianist Allegra Chapman on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, at 4 p.m. at the Gualala Arts Center.
Currently pursuing her undergraduate degree at The Juilliard School, de la Motte studies with Hsin-Yun Huang and performs as a member of the Cabaletta Quartet. A past winner of the 2021 American Viola Society National Competition and third-place recipient in the 2024 Stulberg International String Competition, she has also appeared as a soloist with the La Jolla Symphony. Born into a large musical family, de la Motte began on violin at age 2 and transitioned to viola at 10, drawn by the instrument’s soulful voice.
Chapman, a graduate of The Juilliard School and Bard Conservatory, brings an extensive performance resume spanning Alice Tully Hall, Cal Performances, and the San Francisco Jazz Center. She is a core member of ensembles including Left Coast Chamber Ensemble and San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, and is co-founder of the award-winning duo Chordless. She also teaches at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s Pre-College division.
Tickets are $35 in advance, +$5 the day of the performance, available at Gualala Arts, the Dolphin Gallery, and online at GualalaArts.org.
