Gualala Arts Center

Gualala Arts is delighted to announce the annual Nine Lessons and Carols event, set to take place on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24 at 5 p.m. in the Coleman Hall. This cherished community tradition promises an evening of festive cheer and reflection.

As guests arrive, luminaries will light the way from the Gualala Arts parking area, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The Coleman Auditorium stage will be beautifully decorated for the holidays with greenery, flowers, and a Christmas star, setting the perfect scene for the evening’s festivities.

The audience will have the opportunity to join in singing nine beloved carols, all familiar favorites. Interspersed with the carols, clergy and readers will share Bible passages that tell the Christmas story. Sue Bolin will provide musical accompaniment.

Lessons 2014-7

The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols follows the format established in 1918 at King’s College Chapel in Cambridge, England. This festival was introduced to bring a more imaginative approach to worship and is designed to be accessible and inviting to people of all ages and backgrounds.

Seating for this popular event is limited and tends to fill up quickly, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early. Donations are welcomed, with all proceeds going to support local Food Banks.

Nine Lessons and Carols is presented by Shepherd by the Sea Episcopal-Lutheran Mission. Don’t miss this special opportunity to celebrate the holiday season with music, community, and the timeless story of Christmas.
