Art Pick-up is January 5 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The Gualala Arts is thrilled to announce a Call to Artist exhibit titled “Birds on the Brain.” Artists are invited to submit their bird-themed works for this upcoming exhibit. The deadline for entries is November 21. The exhibit will open on Friday, December 5, with a reception from 4-6 p.m. and will run through January 4.
This exhibit welcomes artworks in any medium, including photography, watercolor, oil, acrylic, encaustic, collage, ceramic, stone, fiber, graphite, paper, pen and ink, metal, assemblage, and more. The only requirement is that the artwork features a bird.
The Burnett Gallery, located within the Gualala Arts Center, provides an ideal space to showcase bright, cheerful works that bring the outdoors in during the winter month of December. The exhibit aims to celebrate the creativity inspired by birds.
“Birds are a common muse for artists, and on California’s rural north coast communities, we are surrounded by them.” says exhibit curator, Tempra Board. “We are thrilled to have the Gualala Art Center’s premier gallery space, the Burnett Gallery, for the entire month of December!”
Thank you to our generous prize sponsors: Sharon Nickodem for first place, Tempra Board for second place, and the Collage Group for third place. Also extend a special thank you to the Redwood Coast Land Conservancy and Rich Trissel for their special contribution—an expert-led birding outing at Mill Bend, awarded to one lucky winner!
