About Director Sue Bohlin

Sue Bohlin, along with her husband Bob Geary, was entered into the United States Congressional Record in October 2023 by Representative Barbara Lee of California’s 12th district for their “exemplary service in the field of choral music.” The musical couple, who recently celebrated 23 years of marriage, has also received “Founders” awards from the Piedmont East Bay Children’s Choir after four decades of leading the group to international recognition. Maestro Geary is the 2023 recipient of two prestigious awards from Chorus America.

A published composer, Bohlin recently decided to quit commuting to her Bay Area music gigs, choosing instead to enjoy the scenic beauty and gentle nature of the coast. In addition to directing CoastSing, she helps out the music program in the Pt. Arena School District, plays piano for the Shepherd of the Sea, and teaches voice and piano privately. Geary currently conducts his professional choir, Volti, as well as the SF Choral Society and Piedmont Choir’s Ancora. The couple splits their time between their house in Anchor Bay and a boat in Sausalito.
