Global Harmony and Gualala Arts Theater are proud to present “To Be of Use,” a solo performance by Julie Drucker, on Sunday, April 13th at 2 p.m. at the Gualala Arts Center. Tickets are $20 in advance, +$5 day of, available at Gualala Arts, the Dolphin Gallery, and online at GualalaArts.org.
“To Be of Use” is a heartfelt tribute to Drucker’s Jewish Romanian grandfather, exploring the search for truth about his death and the complex emotions surrounding it. Through a blend of narrative and movement, this piece delves into themes of immigration, trauma, forgiveness, love, and the intricate family dynamics passed down through generations. The performance is directed by Nina Wise and Sherry Glaser.
Julie Drucker, originally from New York City, is a seasoned performance artist with a background in Ballet and Jazz, though her true passion lies in Improvisation. She has extensively studied Contact Improvisation and Motion Theater and has directed intergenerational dance and storytelling projects in the Bay Area, working with participants aged 21 to 85. Drucker is also known for her dedication to combining her love of children with her love of theater and dance. She was a recipient of the Mendocino Arts Council GASP grant in 2011 and the Theater Bay Area Cash grant in 2018.
