The Formosa Quartet, a distinguished ensemble acclaimed for their dynamic and innovative performances, is set to grace the stage as a part of the  Gualala Arts Chamber Music Series. This event, scheduled for January 19, at 4 pm, promises to be a captivating experience for chamber music enthusiasts. With a history of accolades, including the prestigious First Prize and Amadeus Prize at the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, the quartet has enchanted audiences globally with their spellbinding concerts. The ensemble, comprising Jasmine Lin, David Bernat, Matthew Cohen, and Deborah Pae, brings a wealth of experience as soloists, chamber, and orchestral musicians.  The founding members’ interest in championing Taiwanese music and Indigenous cultures has since expanded to include the exploration of the rich folk traditions and heritages found in America today. Whether in its uncompromisingly exploratory approach to the standard quartet literature; curated from its collection of folk, pop, jazz, and poetry arrangements, the Formosa Quartet is committed to an insatiable search for the fresh and new in string quartet expression.

Their appearance at Gualala arts is an opportunity for the community to witness a group that embodies the spirit of innovation and cultural exploration in music. Tickets  are available in advance for $40 at Gualala Arts, the Dolphin Gallery and online at GualalaArts.org.  With an additional $5 on the day of the performance, attendees are encouraged to purchase their tickets early.
