Gualala Arts is pleased to present “Introduction to Landscape Painting with Acrylic Paint” with instructor Marty Kitzel. The workshop is set for Monday through Wednesday, March 18-20 from 11 am – 4pm. The cost of the workshop is $70 for Gualala Arts Members, $100 for Non Members, sign up below or at the Gualala Arts front desk. Scholarships available for low income students, contact Kendra at Kendra@GualalaArts.org for more information. All proceeds from this workshop are a fundraiser for Gualala Arts.
In this course, will be focused on fundamentals and technical knowledge. Both methods of working in both light to dark and dark to light, opaquely and translucently will be demonstrated with a working section in each session. Demonstrations will include a basic how to for mixing colors and creating a composition.
Instructor Marty Kitzel is retired from the construction industry but always kept drawing and painting in his spare time, taking on various projects from album art, to sign painting, to furniture design and portraiture. Marty divides his time between Gualala and Sonoma Valley, drawing, painting and gardening. He also has extensive education in painting, and printmaking while studying at St. Bonaventure University, Buffalo State College, and earned a degree in illustration from the Academy of Art College in San Francisco.
Materials List for Students
Pencil
Acrylic Paints including White, black, red, dark blue, and yellow.
Brushes of varies sizes.
Canvas, canvas panels, or illustration board no larger than 12 x 18,
2 jars or 2 cups for water
a palette and palette knife.
A nature photo from which to base a painting.
