A Message from Concert Co-Producer Fred Adler

“What the World Needs Now, is Love Sweet Love.” And more sensitive and loving souls, such as Scottie Wright.

Surely Scottie’s artistry and tender voice emanating from his gifted vocal chords is special, but even more importantly, is his generous soul and honest heart that speaks to us.

He transported me to that elusive dream-like “Somewhere;” that timeless Leonard Bernstein/Stephen Sondheim hymn from “Westside Story,” even without actually singing it, where “We’ll Find a New Way of Living.” “We’ll Find a Way of Forgiving” …

Scottie’s gentle demeanor and humility; his interpretations of classic song moved me the moment he stepped vulnerably yet confidently onto the stage, taking the mic, accompanied by the magnificent Australian-born pianist Simon Rowe at the increasingly revered San Francisco Jazz Club, Keys Jazz Bistro, on Broadway, North Beach (owned and enthusiastically operated by Simon Rowe, himself)!

‘A diamond in the rough,’ is Scottie Wright, having chosen to perform essentially in the Monterey/Santa Cruz area for many years.

This Christmas concert will include touching Cole Porter and Irving Berlin standards as well as beautiful holiday songs.

Scottie and Simon Rowe will be backed by the ebullient French bassist Pierre Archain, and the hip and accomplished drummer Gabe Yanez.

Scottie’s very own Christmas composition “Through a Child’s Eyes,” will be showcased.

I believe that it is ‘Together for the Arts’ and through a child’s eyes that humanity can muddle its way through this brutal, blind, insane maze, and be forgiven for its ignorance. Perhaps this gentle Christmas concert can even be one pebble toward the light of peace and awareness.

Wishing you a happy, but contemplative, holiday season this year!
