Gualala Arts presents a special evening of “Dinner and Jazz at St. Orres on Friday, August 4, 2023. This event, part of the 2023 Sonoma – Mendocino Coast Whale & Jazz Festival Series, is in St. Orres’ main dining room and will feature Robby Elfman, flute/clarinet, and Ian Scherer, guitar. Bay Area music composer and multi-instrumentalist Robby Elfman composed his first film score at the age of 16, and a few years later won the coveted Music Center Spotlight Award for his jazz saxophone performance at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Elfman has composed symphonies, clarinet quartets, a saxophone concerto, and music for television.
From his home in the Bay area, Ian Scherer has worked with regional and international acts, and has also been composing and producing music for films. In 2003 Scherer began work on soundtrack music for Cypress Films and the Showtime Network, and has worked with such stellar performers as Pat Martino and jazz guitar great Jimmy Bruno.
The Mendocino Coast’s architectural gem, Saint Orres, is at 36601 South Highway 1, Gualala. Reservations are highly recommended. There will be two seatings on Friday, August 4.
