Local poet and writer Susan Wolbarst and Gualala Arts will host a special poetry event, Wednesday, April 13, 2022. Everyone is invited to bring a favorite poem to share with others from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Gualala Arts. “Poetry for Everyone” is an event being held in honor of National Poetry Month.

This casual outdoor (weather permitting) event is inclusive, for all ages and all kinds of folks. “Even if you find poetry intimidating, don’t “get” poetry, or don’t particularly like poetry, you may hear something you like, at least that is my hope,“ Wolbarst said. “If not, just enjoy the cookies.” The poem you bring to read can be a poem you’ve written, or a poem by anyone from any time. It should be about one page long. Bring two if you like.

Wolbarst, who organized this event with great help from Gualala Arts, has received awards from the Sacramento Poetry Center and has been published in numerous print and digital literary magazines, including one published in Berlin, Germany. She also maintains a large and growing collection of rejection slips.

“Poetry for Everyone” is free and light refreshments will be served.
