Paul David (PD) Serratoni, the longtime super volunteer, House Manager and Volunteer of the Decade will be honored by a special memorial service presided by Rev Frances Tornquist in the Coleman Hall at Gualala Arts Center.

Please join PD’s family in remembering our beloved PD.

Please note, Masks and Proof of Vaccines will be required for this indoor service. With recent rain the outside grounds and seating areas are too damp for an outside event.

PD is survived by his Sister-in-law Karen Serratoni; his nephew Mark, Mark’s wife Rebecca; nephew-in-law, Aiden all will be attending the service.

A message from our Executive Director David “Sus” Susalla:

PD (Paul David) Serratoni is one of the legions of volunteers that do so much around the arts center.

When PD first moved to the Sea Ranch to stay with his brother Frank and Karen Serratoni, Karen came by the arts center and said I have a new volunteer to introduce you to.

That first day, PD walked across the threshold of the arts center doors with that big smile and said, “Nice to meet you Sus.”  I asked him, like I ask most new volunteers, “What do you LIKE to do PD?”  He responded, “Well, you know…what ever you need Sus…um you know…I am happy to help!”

The very next day he showed up about 10:30 to check in and see what “we needed.”

This turned into a daily routine very quickly and his infectious positive attitude spread to every one of us he encountered.  After a couple of weeks of PD helping with just about everything that was happening from setting up concerts, art opening, working with Tuesday crew, moving stuff from a to b, attending EVERY EVENT, helping us break down and close the arts center, I asked Karen if we were asking of too much.  Her response was, “Oh he loves the arts center and you Sus.  Thanks for welcoming him.”

PD was our #1 recruiter for volunteers and always included people around him.  He would even grab first time visitors and ask them if they wanted to help with whatever project we were working on.

PD soon became our volunteer “House Manager.” And helped us with every event we had for years and his steel-trap mind could remember every volunteer name and what team they worked with.

After Frank passed on, PD and I grew closer and our friendship turned into a brotherhood by choice.  No matter how exciting or challenging the task at hand, PD always helped.  I will always cherish my time with PD as he became one of the most inspirational influences on me.

I will try to live up to his high standard, good attitude towards the tasks at hand, dedication, devotion, unconditional love of ALL the arts, willingness to help others and most of all his friendship.

I miss you PD!  I will carry your spirit and positivity with me always.

much love…

sus….
