Come participate in a countercultural revolution that truly encourages women to put themselves first. Let’s knock down the impossible standard of being everything for everyone only to be left with nothing for ourselves. It is time to cultivate and reclaim the Self with a capital S. This is same Self that becomes dulled and lost as we give away our time and energy to others without replenishing our own vital reserves.

Using the creative tools of writing, drawing and movement, this workshop retraces the trail of crumbs back to a wild, vibrant sense of Self. We learn to metaphorically put on our life vests and oxygen masks first to reassert our right to thriving. We can navigate through life, motherhood, daughterhood, marriage or divorce with our true compass in place. Gathered from decades of coaching and teaching, I will share tools that empower our psyche and lay down the foundation to live from an authentic focus. We can only be and give to the world what we have emboldened within. Join me on this vital heroine’s quest.

INSTRUCTOR STATEMENT

They say, “We take ourselves wherever we go.” This translates into good news and bad news. The bad news is that we cannot run away from our problems. The good news is that we can stop trying to control our circumstances and start cultivating a stronger sense of Self. This means investing time and energy into creative exploration and curious meanderings. It means putting our needs first and foremost above everything else. I will share insightful and delightful tools that I have discovered from decades of working as a personal coach and workshop leader. As we gather together, the synergy of the group multiplies the potential for transformation and connection with intention. What is the intention? It is to make our inner world vibrant and integrated so that our outer world can be experienced from that magical lens. I have a personal saying, “You are welcome wherever you go.” Because you carry yourself everywhere, it is vital that you cultivate a profound and passionate relationship with yourself. How you treat yourself will be mirrored back to you tenfold within your family, your work and your potential. The seminar will be a powerful playing ground to see how your Self will unfold.

BIOGRAPHY

Soo Young Lee experiences the world through a double-sided lens that includes the language and perspectives of Korean and American culture. From this, she has written, danced and communicated as a writer, performer, college professor and keynote speaker. She has published numerous essays and poetry on subjects such as skateboarding, authentic movement, Korean traditions to personal transformation and therapeutic literature. Her greatest passion is exploring what inspires someone to ask the right questions instead of trying to find the right answers. She balances her writing with teaching in universities and art centers as well as working as an Editor of a self-improvement website. Today she loves this quote: “In the final analysis, we count for something only because of the essential we embody, and if we do not embody that, life is wasted,” by C.G. Jung.
