This intensive workshop will give students an opportunity to expand their knowledge and experience rendering the human figure, from life, in pencil. A live model will be present and students will be working from a single pose throughout to obtain a fully finished and accurate representation within the range of their experience and ability. A number of lectures and demonstrations will be given focusing on the construction of the human form and its features. Stages of the classical drawing process will be explained and practiced. This workshop is excellent for any artist looking to hone their craft and open to all advanced and beginning students.
Andrew Ameral was born in San Francisco and graduated from the California College of Arts and Crafts (CCAC). Andrew studied painting at the Florence Academy of Art, where he was the Director of Anatomy and a principle drawing instructor. Andrew has taught for the graduate program of the San Francisco Academy of Art University, worked as an illustrator, and taught workshops at a number of schools all over the United States including the Grand Central Academy in New York, the Academy of Realist Art in Boston, the Conservatory for Classical Art in Oklahoma, and the Ashland Art Center in Oregon. Andrew received scholarships from the Art Renewal Center and the Stacey Foundation. Andrew paints and teaches at a private studio in Oakland and is the Founder and Director of the Golden Gate Atelier (www.goldengateatelier.com): a school that offers complete classical training for the realist artist. Andrew’s drawings and paintings are privately owned in Europe and the United States.
