This workshop will introduce beginning and advanced students to the ancient art of wet felting. Instructor Carin Engen will guide participants in making a wearable winter wool hat.
Students will be have many choices in designing shapes from berets to the choice of many shapes from berets to cloche’ and hats with or without brims. Engen will provide a variety of wool colors from which to choose.
Instructions will include ways to embellish the hat with felted flowers and other artful, creative ways to make each hat a one-of-a-kind.
Carin Engen is an award-winning fiber artist and workshop instructor and has been using her experimental, playful nature to explore felting and color seriously since 1992. Engen maintains a studio in Garberville, Calif., where she produces a line of hand-dyed wool fabric and fiber as well as felt art.

Registration, Payment & Cancellation Policy
Register at Gualala Arts Center, Monday through Friday, 10 am to 4 pm or call (707) 884-1138. We accept Visa and Mastercard. Out of town workshop participants: see our Visitor Information page, including lodgings & restaurants.
Class must be paid in full at registration. Payments can be refunded (minus a $25 non-refundable fee) until the “register by” date; after that date, no refunds. Classes are filled on a first come first served basis until all spaces are filled. All classes are subject to minimum and maximum enrollment. If the class does not fill, you will receive a full refund. Please check that your class has filled before the first meeting date.
