NOTE: Students are strongly encouraged to take both sessions (AM and PM).

This art and nature learning experience is for birders, outdoor enthusiasts and art lovers taught by bird activist/artist, Jonqui Albin. Ages 9-100 and all skill levels are welcome.

Using hands-on wire drawing and shaping techniques, we sculpt line art and 4D Birds working from a live raptor as our model. Your sculptures can serve as indoor/outdoor décor wall hangings or window pieces and ceiling-hung mobiles. Spotlighted pieces make wall /ceiling shadow drawings or silhouettes. Group bird tribute exhibit (online; optional) is to raise bird preservation awareness. Jonqui is a Sonoma-based, lifetime artist, performer and teacher committed to bird arting for preservation awareness.

Morning Session, 10-Noon:
WIRE LINE DRAWING: 10-Noon – Work from a live, wild raptor as model. Discover applying action drawing methods while hand forming line drawings with wire.

Lunch Break, half hour.

Afternoon Session, 12:30-2pm:
4D WIRE BIRD SCULPTURE 12:30-2pm – Learn scribble drawing and meshing technique to create 3-dimensional steel wire hanging sculptures, which produce a 4th dimensional shadow bird. Resulting sculptures are suitable for indoor/outdoor décor and most often ceiling hung or dangled as mobiles from lamps or windows frames.

About the instructor

Bird activist artist, Jonqui Albin is a full-time, life-time artist, now committed to public Bird Arting for fun and preservation. Her sculptures and paintings are shown and collected in San Francisco Bay Area. And, ongoing regional habitat bird sketching meets are 2nd Sunday. Her Bird Arting programs have run in regional State parks, community centers, professional artist groups, high schools and Middle schools. Jonqui’s artworks apply her live habitat sketchbooking inspired wild bird action and culture narratives to flying wire sculptures and huge paintings and drawings. Works shown in bird tribute exhibits are most often accompanied by live bird action painting performance events. Her live bird nature learning performances, demo talks and workshops are also offered at public events, schools, groups and parties.
