The Art in the Redwoods Festival returns to Gualala
Arts Center for the 48th annual event.
What began among the redwoods
on Gualala ridge in 1961 has grown to a weekend attraction for thousands.
This popular weekend event will repeat the successful formula of past
years, with some new twists!

Fine Art Exhibit
The heart of the festival is the magnificent exhibit of fine art throughout the building. Over 400 pieces will be on display - including oil paintings, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, drawings, photographs, sculpture, woodworking, stained and fused glass, jewelry and fiber arts - most of them for sale. How to Enter.] Admission $6; children 17 and under are free.
For those unable to attend the festival, these works will remain on display through Sunday, September 6.
The Gualala Arts Center is open weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on weekends from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.

"Top Hat" Dinner

The
"Top Hat" opening dinner & wine celebration
at the Gualala Arts Center starts at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening when the doors open.
Chef Jon Mortimer from the
Timber Cove Inn
will be in charge of the scrumptious dinner with specially paired wines from
Annapolis Winery.
Diners will get a sneak peek preview of the Fine Art Exhibit even before it is judged, and
enjoy a special set by
Kronos Quartet
(see Saturday's Headline Event).
Advance dinner tickets ($150 each, includes $100 donation), which come with a VIP Festival pass, are recommended, as it usually sells out early.

Champagne Preview
The Champagne Preview is on Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (admission $10).
Outdoor artist booths will be open for a sneak preview from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. The Fine Art exhibit sneak preview is from 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. Award presentations and judges critique will take place Friday at 6:00 p.m. in the outdoor amphitheater. Artists should be present to receive awards but are not required.

Festival weekend
The Festival is open to the public on
Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
for the indoor fine art exhibition and outdoor festival activities.
Admission is $6.00 for adults, and children 17 and under are free.
Live music will be presented
on the auditorium stage, in the outdoor amphitheater and throughout the festival
- most of it performed by local musicians.
The grounds will be filled to the brim with vendor booths
offering a host of items including jewelry,
ceramics, wood, tiles, weavings, specialized apparel, leather goods,
photographs, textiles, and artwork.
A wide variety of food will be available at the Gualala Arts Grill,
Sandwich & Salad Shop (including George Marshall's award-winning clam chowder)
and Gualala Arts Sweet Shoppe - featuring Dreyer's ice cream.
The Gualala Lions Club will host a beverage booth where you will find
Mendocino Brewing Co. and Lagunitas
beers, as well as wine and assorted soft drinks.

Kronos Quartet in Concert

For more than 30 years, the
Kronos Quartet
- David Harrington, John Sherba (violins), Hank Dutt (viola) and Jeffrey Zeigler (cello) - has pursued a singular artistic vision, combining a spirit of fearless exploration with a commitment to expanding the range and context of the string quartet. In the process, Kronos has become one of the most celebrated and influential groups of our time.

The Art in the Redwoods
Quilt Raffle
will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Winner need not be present to win. Proceeds will go Gualala Arts for art scholarships.
This year's quilt, "Chains of Gold," was created by Gail Sims, Janet Windsor and Sharon Malachowski.
Raffle tickets can be purchased at Gualala Arts Center and the Dolphin Gallery. Tickets are $2 each, three for $5, seven for $10 or fifteen for $20.
