We'll use a process-oriented, sculptural approach to working with clay in this five week course. Handbuilt sculpture techniques will be demonstrated and practiced in each class, as well as textural and glazed surface decoration methods. Projects will express a personal passion in three dimensional form. Experiments, playful and reflective, will help evolve your own sense of image and symbol. A brief survey of ancient to modern iconography will deepen your appreciation of world symbols. The aim is to develop pieces which convey meaning for you for years to come.
Cone six clay and glazes will be used. The course takes place over five Saturdays, from 9:00 am to 12 noon. The small class format creates a space where both beginners and experienced individuals may relax into the freeing process of working with clay.

Note: The course is one in a series of Three Thematic "5-Class" Sessions. If ongoing ceramics development is your goal, it's fine to enroll in more than one "5-class" Session.
