Fine Arts Fair: 2010

Saturday, May 29, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  Sunday, May 30, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Gualala Arts: Fine Arts Fair Gualala Arts will host a Fine Arts Fair at the Gualala Arts Center May 29 & 30, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It takes place the Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.

The Gualala Arts Fine Arts Fair is an intimate two-day arts festival held in the small Northern California coastal town of Gualala, overlooking the Pacific at the junction of Mendocino and Sonoma Counties. This unique fair grew out of the very popular Summer Saturday Art Festivals. Based on numerous requests from patrons and artists alike, it was decided to transform SSAF into a multi-day event. This holiday weekend is typically a time when tourists flock to our area of the North Coast to unofficially kick off their summer.

Gualala Arts: Fine Arts Fair Artist spaces will be tastefully scattered along the periphery of the 15,000 sq. ft. Gualala Arts Center. The Center is located approximately a half-mile inland from the coast. In addition to selling work covering a wide variety of artistic media, several artists will be "in action," demonstrating the creation of their craft during the festival.

Gualala Arts is a non-profit arts organization focused on promoting public interest and participation in the arts. All proceeds from the Fine Arts Fair benefit community art programs.

After the Fine Arts Fair on Saturday, Gualala Arts will host Art Off the Wall, a festive evening of great food plus the excitement of a drawing to raise funds for the Arts Center.

Artist Application

The Fine Arts Fair application form is available online and at the Gualala Arts Center. Application deadline is April 1st.

Entertainment

Live music will be presented throughout the festival weekend - most of it by local musicians. Listed below are just some of the groups and individuals who will be performing for free.

The Tonewoods

Tonewoods The Tonewoods is a delightful Sonoma County based trio with Steve Gomes - vocal, guitar and mandolin , Jenny Nourse - vocal, mandolin, accordion, percussion (including the infamous "Woody") and Patrick Mullin - vocal, guitar and Irish bouzouki.

The Tonewoods perform contemporary acoustic Americana music. Their unique arrangements feature strong vocal harmonies rendering tunes from some of the best songwriters of our time.

Karen Tracy, Gualala Arts front desk, brought our attention to her old friends from Sonoma valley. They appeared at the Fine Arts Fair in 2009 plus coming back for Art in the Redwoods that year and were such a hit we are thrilled to have them back.

Ernest Bloch Bell Ringers

Ernest Bloch Bell Ringers

The Ernest Bloch Bell Ringers Quintet is comprised of Davina Allen, Lucienne Allen, Sita Milchev, Tina Ballagh and Jeanne Jackson. Listeners will surely enjoy hearing "The Gift of Love," "Always and Forever," and Pachelbel's "Canon."

Just for this event, the ringers will also perform "Twelve Bells Americana," featuring an America Medley, a Stephen Foster medley and the spiritual "Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen."

The sounds of the bells in the Gualala Arts foyer are magical to hear. You won't want to miss them!
