Intermediate Quilting materials list |
This class is a continuation of last year's
Beginning Quilting
class with more complex blocks to piece together, each one with a bit more degree of difficulty. Jan and Kalynn will also introduce you to other methods of block construction, such as paper piecing and working with templates. At the end of this class you should have enough completed squares to form a block sampler quilt.
Students will make ten different quilt blocks while learning cutting and piecing so that the student can select the one with which they are most comfortable. Color selection and use is emphasized.
About the instructors
Kalynn Oleson's grandmother quilted and her mother sewed most of her clothes when she was growing up. In her first Home Economics sewing class, she really made a mess of her apron. Her college education taught her clothing construction. A co-worker re-introduced her to quilting about 20 years ago. She sews and quilts but not always in a traditional way. She combines her clothing construction and quilting into wearables. She would like to show others that one messed apron can be their gateway to fantastic fun with fabric, color, design and quilts.
Jan Carter has been sewing most of her life, making mostly garments and a few quilts. She started quilting in earnest in 2005 when she moved to The Sea Ranch and discovered Pacific Piecemakers Quilt Guild. Jan enjoys some traditional quilting, landscape quilts, both machine work and hand work, and making up her own quilts as she goes along. In her spare time she fondles fabric.
