If you would like to learn more about the technique of Nuno felting this workshop is for you.
With all the room we have at the Arts Center, here is your chance to turn Nuno fabric into a garment.
Some of the things that will be covered include: how to use cotton and other fabrics, including printed fabrics; how other fibers work, such as soy silk, bamboo, tensel, mohair, alpaca and angora; putting designs on both sides; what to do with the raw edge if using yardage; how to add a ruffle; how to use silk hankies; making fringes, 3D designs, and using resists; and learning to do patchwork using wool as the glue to hold pieces together (a great way to use silk fabric remnants, scraps and second hand store finds).
About the instructor
Carin Engen is an award-winning fiber artist and workshop instructor who has been using her experimental, playful nature to explore felting and color seriously since 1992. She maintains a studio in Garberville, California, where she produces a line of hand-dyed wool fabric and fiber as well as her felt art. She is an enthusiastic teacher who encourages innovation in her students work.
