This workshop is a one day introduction to the operation and use of the Gualala Arts Center Wood Fired Pizza Oven.
Participants will learn how to heat up the oven and basic safety procedures involved in the operation of the oven. They will make pizza dough crusts from scratch in the Arts Center kitchen and then use their crusts to construct and bake finished pizzas in the oven. The class will finish by 5:00 p.m. Then we will have a little party and eat the fruits of our labor.
Class members are encouraged to invite family members and guests to join us at our post-class party in the pizza oven picnic area. Class members should bring their own beverages for the party.
Class participants will become qualified to use and operate the oven.
About the Instructor
Jamie Edwards is a member of Gualala Arts Tuesday Morning Volunteers who built the Wood Fired Pizza Oven.
He learned to bake pizza in a wood fired oven when he lived in Los Gatos and was a member of a rowdy bocce ball club.
One of the club members had a wood fired oven in his backyard where many memorable events were held.
Jamie encourages all pizza lovers to become members of Friends of the Pizza Oven (FOPO). Talk with him about the advantages of a FOPO membership and how to join.
