Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC):
Introduction to Acting
Instructor: Kathye Hitt
Thursdays evenings
January 17 to May 22, 2008
Looking for a way to get involved with the exciting theatrical productions here at the Arts Center? Sign up for Santa Rosa Junior College's (SRJC) Introduction to Acting class taught here by
Arts Center Theater's own Kathye Hitt. The class meets on Thursday evenings from January 17 to May 22, 2008 in the Gualala Arts Center auditorium. The class is offered through SRJC, so the cost is reasonable, and college credit is available.
You'll enjoy stretching your acting "wings" through learning how to create and portray a character. Each week you'll grow to appreciate the art of role-playing with improvisation and class exercises. Whether you've never stepped foot onstage, or have loads of experience but simply want to hone your performance skills, this class will give you the opportunity to explore the world of acting with a minimum of pressure and a maximum of fun!
Kathye holds a Masters Degree in Theater and Film and has taught this SRJC class at the Arts Center for 5 years. She is one of the founders and directors of Arts Center Theater. This summer she will be directing the play "Steel Magnolias" here at Gualala Arts Center. Her acting resume is extensive and varied, ranging from Shakespeare to modern comedies.
Previous students have commented on how much fun they have in Kathye's classes. Growth as an actor is encouraged and nurtured in a supportive manner. Class sizes are small so you will receive lots of personal attention. Kathye's primary goal is for every student to have fun!
If you are interested in signing up for the class, go to the SRJC website at
www.santarosa.edu (THAR 10A, section 7610) or pick up an enrollment form in the Arts Center foyer. If you have questions, give Kathye a call at 884-3744. She'll be happy to give you additional details on the class.
