Art Center Theater is proud to announce its 2014 Winter Production - Enchanted April, directed by Lynne Atkins.
Performances are scheduled for February 21, 22, 23, 28 and March 1 and 2 - Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.
Winner of the 2003 John Gassner Award for Outstanding New American Play and a Best Play Tony Award nominee, Matthew Barber's Enchanted April is a delightful renaissance of the spirit!
The Daily Variety printed, "This is a comical, restorative journey of discovery... from darkness to light, from inhibition to unrestrained joy. Beautiful and theatrically rewarding."
NYTheater.com said, "Enchanted April is that rarity: a play where every single element falls perfectly into place - a show that leaves you positively glowing."
And the Hartford News stated, "This is the kind of play that reminds you of why you love theatre."
Enchanted April, based upon the book by Elizabeth Von Arnim, tells the heartwarming story of post-World War I London's changing social currents and two middle class women who, unhappy in their marriages, impulsively rent a holiday villa in Italy to escape the tedium of their lives and the incessant drizzle of the City.
In order to afford the outing they take on two upper class ladies as "paying guests." The foursome is not, at onset, a fortuitous grouping. However, the beauty and magic of "wisteria and sunshine" works its wiles in ways none of them could have predicted.
This Art Center Theater production boasts an ensemble cast of local actors (in alphabetical order): Remi Alexander - Lady Carolyn Bramble, Saundra Brewer - Mrs. Graves, Jon Handel - Mellersh Wilton, Kathye Hitt - Rose Arnott, Jeff Mc Farland - Anthony Wilding, Lillian Mc Farland - Lotty Wilton, Sabina Walla - Costanza and Herman Wilkinson - Fredrick Arnott.
Tickets are $15 adults and $10 for youth (17 and under); $5 additional if purchased the day of the performance.
