Sold out more than a week ahead, last weekend's two fabulous evenings and one afternoon performance of Ain't Misbehavin' were a smash hit. Friends told friends, but there were no extra tickets floating around for last minute planners. To accommodate at least a few of the disappointed, Art Center Theater has decided to do an encore performance of the Fats Waller musical special on Saturday, March 7.
This performance will start at 7:00 p.m. and doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The tickets will be $20 in advance or $5 more at the door, which will probably not be available, so purchase early. There will not be a small plate as part of this ticket price.

Ain't Misbehavin' is tribute to the African-American musicians of the 1920s and '30s who were part of the Harlem Renaissance: an era of growing creativity, cultural awareness, and ethnic pride. Five performers present an evening of rowdy and humorous songs that celebrates the music of Thomas "Fats" Waller who rose international fame during the Golden Age of the Cotton Club, honky tonk dives along Lenox Avenue, rent parties, stride piano players and that jumpin' new beat, Swing.
Although not quite a biography, "Ain't Misbehavin'" evokes the delightful humor and infectious energy of "Fats" Waller as the cast struts, strums and sings the songs he made famous in a career that ranged from uptown clubs to downtown Tin Pan Alley to Hollywood and concert stages in the U.S., Canada and Europe. The musical captures the spirit and joyousness of the Renaissance music and showcases classic Waller tunes like "Honeysuckle Rose," "I've Got a Feeling I'm Falling" and, of course, the title song, "Ain't Misbehavin'."
Join us for this rollicking, swinging, finger-snapping revue, still considered one of Broadway's best, as the Coleman Auditorium is transformed into a nightclub, reminiscent of the famous Manhattan nightclubs of the late 1920s & 1930s like the Cotton Club and The Savoy Ballroom.
First weekend only:
The doors open an hour prior to the show so you can grab a table and have a small dinner plate, provided by the Culinary Guild, as well as spirits for purchase. Jazz music from that era will be playing and audience can dance if so desired. Just before the show begins light will flash, drums beat rolls, and then the show begins. At intermission dessert is available in addition to more libations for purchase. Act II begins after a 15 minute intermission and the fun continues... It should be an experience and evening to remember!
