Take six highly seasoned . . . and critically acclaimed . . . Savoyards, add a dash of drama, a splash of sophistication, a soupçon of sarcasm, a heaping helping of humor, an earful of education, then throw them all into a musical blender . . . and waddaya get? Savoy Express, the Bay Area's most delightful new addition to the performing arts scene and they're coming to Gualala Arts Center Thursday, April 26 at 6:00 p.m.
Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 on the day of the show, and can be purchased by calling (707) 884-1138. No host wine and hors d'oeuvre bar at 5:30 p.m.
These six energetic, attractive performers, who also just happen to be members of internationally acclaimed G&S repertory company, Lamplighters Music Theatre, as well as Stanford Savoyards and Lyric Theatre of San Jose, are taking Gilbert & Sullivan to new heights with instantly accessible, revue-style potpourris that capture the wit, whimsy and essence of that "Dynamic Duo" of the Victorian era, Sir William S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan.
Presenting highlights from the big three perennial favorites; The Mikado, Pirates of Penzance, and HMS Pinafore, Savoy Express also brings to life selections from The Gondoliers, Iolanthe, Princess Ida, Ruddigore, Trial by Jury, Yeomen of the Guard, and much more!
Gilbert & Sullivan: The Aspects of Love wends its merry way through the "many, various ways" of love found in the repertoire: long lost love; newfound love; unrequited love; unabashed love...even "not even a clue" love! Gilbert & Sullivan has always been a treat for all ages...and as the Mikado himself says, "Nothing could possibly be more satisfactory!"
