Sea Tones Series presents: Willson and McKee |
On Friday, February 6, Gualala Arts Sea Tones Series invites you to spend an evening with musicians Willson and McKee. With folk, Celtic and Irish flavors, their musical style puts the "rock" in shamrock. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at Gualala Arts Center or the Dolphin Gallery. Children are admitted free. Show time is 7:30 p.m. A dynamic duo for two decades, Kim McKee and Ken Willson are life partners that have both been involved in the world of music since childhood. A performer at age five, Kimās earliest focus was on the art of classical music. An interest in her family tree and the traditions stemming from with in channeled Kim into the Celtic realm. Her passion and commitment in mastering the dulcimer crowned her National Dulcimer Champion of 2002. Ken Willson has dabbled in numerous musical genres from bluegrass to good old rock-n-roll÷acoustic folk being the constant. A self-taught artist, Ken has a flare for the guitar (whether itās the six-string, Irish Bouzouki or cardboard guitar). These instruments combined with many others make up the unique sound of Willson & McKee. Irish favorites such as hornpipes and jigs are brought to life with the Celtic harp, bodhran (drum), Appalachian dulcimer and the almighty squeeze box! First and second place winners of the 2003 Milwaukee Irish Fest songwriting competition, the duo released their fifth CD "When the Notes Dance·" in December of 2002.
