Gualala Arts Local Eyes is presenting a cocktail show titled
"Laura Leigh, Stepping into the Light"
on November 12 at 5:30 p.m. Come join Laura and piano accompanist, Gloria Wood, in an evening of varied musical numbers that reflect the life and talents of this amazing woman. Songs tell a story, and Laura has a story to tell. She won't be bound by any one style, so expect a colorful journey.
Coastal audiences have watched Laura Leigh step onto the stage and captivate them in any number of roles. There is something about the woman that draws one's attention like a magnet. She has that "It" factor. No one can teach it or explain it. It's just THERE.
Laura will tell you that she arrived on the coast in 1973, where she raised four children; and that now she is "Nana" to six grandchildren, with another member of the family tree on the way. This is a woman completely devoted to family and friends, but recently she wowed audiences with her appearances in La Cage Aux Folles with Gloriana Opera Co. in Ft. Bragg, as well as a number of roles in the spectacularly popular Art Center Theater (ACT) show
Honk!
at Gualala Arts Center. She stole the show as Widow Corney in ACT's
Oliver
in 2009, and brought both the roles of Glinda (the good witch) and Aunt Em delightfully to life in ACT's The Wizard of Oz in 2008.
Many coastal audience members will recall performer and voice teacher, Gloria Wood, shining the spotlight on a little powerhouse of talent named Olivia Harrison, in their showcase last year,
It's Olivia!
Now it's time for the multi-talented Laura Leigh to have a show of her own.
Laura Leigh, Stepping into the Light
is on its way. Some performers are colorful. Laura Leigh is a rainbow. She's one of a kind. Mark your calendars. You won't want to miss this!
