Local Eyes Series
present this smash hit event for the third time. After taking a year off, the singing competition hits the stage once again at the Gualala Arts Center's Coleman Auditorium on September 19, 2009.
Come take part in this sell-out event when you, as an audience member, will vote for your favorite singer in two categories, juniors and adults. Expect this year's competition to be more exciting than ever, with never seen before contestants.
This year's adult singers are Megan Bouma, Jeremy Crockett, Megan Diggins, Cassandra Grossman, Jennifer Spangler and Victoria Thomas.
The six junior finalists were selected after try-outs held in Mr. Myers Classroom at Point Arena High School, and a second set of try-outs at the Gualala Arts Center. The response was the best ever, and after hearing the songs of more than two dozen young singers, the judges were able to bring to you this year's junior selections: Remi Alexander, Katie Burfoot, Alethea Davies, Suzanne Kritz, Jordan Pinkney and Celeste Van Abrams.
The evening will open with a dazzling ensemble choral number with all the contestants, and returning Mendonoma Idol winners Joselyn Malik and Gina Jiminez will also take to the stage once again for special solo performances.
The show will be hosted by the Redwood Coast's female Ryan Seacrest, Liz Redfield of "Lizzard's Lounge," and this year's judges include Gayiel Von, Joel Crockett, from the famed Crockett Brothers singing group, and Renata Yardumian, piano teacher /performer & director of the Gualala Arts Chorus.
Once again, live musical accompanists Don Krieger, keyboards and Wayne Harris, guitar, Jason Cotton, piano, John Crosby, drums, Eric Kritz, reeds, George Abrams, guitar and Norm Fast, bass, will lend their talents to round out this evening of entertainment, fun, and excitement.
Co-directors Amie Heath and Tony Ariola have been working hard to make this a night to remember, so get your tickets now, and be a part of Mendonoma Idol history when you decide which adult will take home the $500 cash prize, and which junior contestant will walk away with a $500 savings bond donated by Gold Sponsor, Westamerica Bank.
