The Gualala Arts Chorus will explore the Roots of American Music on May 17
and 18 with Spring Concerts in Point Arena and Gualala.
On Saturday, May 17, the concert will be held at 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul's
Community Methodist Church, 40 School St., Point Arena.
Sunday afternoon, May 18, the Chorus will perform at 5:00 p.m. at the Gualala
Arts Center, Gualala.
Admission for the Gualala concert is $10 in advance or $5 more on the day
of performance. Advance tickets are available at the Gualala Arts Center and
at the Dolphin Gallery in Gualala. Children age 17 and younger are admitted
free. Admission in Point Arena is by donation at the door.
Under the direction of Renata Yardumian, the Gualala Arts Chorus will
perform songs from the 18th Century through the early 20th Century, ranging
from English folksongs to American spirituals and the worksongs popularized
by Leadbelly (Huddie Ledbetter). The concert will be augmented by
informative program notes by Renata Yardumian about the historical music.
The Gualala Arts Center, located at 46501 Old State Highway in Gualala, CA,
is open weekdays 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and weekends from noon to 4:00 p.m.
