Gualala Arts will present a lecture featuring the photos of Susan and Neil Silverman on Monday, January 26 at 7:00 p.m.
Is the world "shrinking?" In a sense, those faraway places that always evoked a sense of mystery and WOW are almost bordering on the ordinary for many of us. With the instant feedback and replay of the internet, and well done travel documentaries on television; one can almost have a sense of having already been there. Armchair traveling is guaranteed creature comfort; but there is nothing to replace the real experience of planting your feet and leaving your shadow on a far-off landscape, and being able to bring that experience home.
Today's digital cameras have created exciting new avenues in the ability to capture dynamic personal travel histories, as well as being able to bring it home. Well, why not bring it home in a lively, memorable fashion that truly captures the sense of time, place and experiences that you had.
Susan and Neil Silverman have been traveling, photographing and teaching the nuances of photography for over twenty years. This evening will be a visual format of great images, tips and tricks for any photographer, whether they be a hard-core large lens "camerivore" or a hip pocket camera junkie. Great ideas on really creating and capturing those images, whether you're standing on a local beach, or have traveled to a remote location will be presented. Practical, functional advice as well as perhaps some new thoughts on discovering your own approach to creating images rather than just mundane ho-hum photos. Learn ways to make your next travel images stay out of the shoebox and up on the wall.
Susan and Neil are teaching a
photography workshop
two weeks later, Saturday and Sunday, February 7 & 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Silvermans present a great evening of information, stay-awake slide shows and good take-home advice. They really believe and live by:
"..forever seeking the light, the image, and the moment"
