The Gualala Arts Global Harmony Season of Offerings is a series of internationally flavored events, festivals and performances that are intended to fulfill the Global Harmony mission of encouraging global harmony by sharing cultures through the arts.
Rumi's Caravan
Starting the season is
Rumi's Caravan
on Friday, March 21, an evening that begins with a Middle
Eastern buffet followed by music and poetry inspired by the 13th century Persian poet Rumi.
Four Shillings Short
The celtic / folk / world music duo
Four Shillings Short
are coming to the Gualala Arts Center
on Tuesday, March 25,
to perform a multi-cultural educational family concert for all ages.
Kitka Women's Vocal Ensemble
International women's vocal ensemble
Kitka
performs its unique Eastern European repertoire
of rural Balkan, Slavic, and Caucasian women's vocal traditions on Saturday, March 29.
Mads Tolling in concert
This year's Sonoma ~ Mendocino Coast
Whale & Jazz Festival Main Event
features
Grammy winning Danish violinist Mads Tolling and his Jazz Europa ensemble,
performing in the Gualala Arts Center Coleman Auditorium on Saturday, April 26.
Cloudfire & Friends
Local favorite
Cloudfire & Friends
return to the Arts Center on Friday, May 16
for an evening of world music featuring
exotic instrumental assemblages.
Sacred & Profane
The next evening, Saturday, May 17, the
Sacred & Profane
choral group honors English
composer Benjamin Britton and Swedish conductor Eric Ericson with a tribute performance that
will also showcase the remarkable contributions of the Netherlands to the choral tradition.
Sakha Cultural Festival
Finally, the Season of Offerings will finish in grand style with a weeklong
Sakha Cultural Festival
which will include an art exhibit opening on Wednesday, June 18,
workshops and a lecture on Thursday, June 19,
Sakha theatrical and musical performances on Friday, June 20,
round table discussions at Fort Ross on Saturday, June 21 and
traditional summer solstice rituals, dances and sports on the morning of Sunday, June 22.
