Gualala Arts presents a piano concert by Renata Yardumian on Sunday, January 31, 4:00 p.m. as part of the Armenian Cultural Festival.
Renata Yardumian will perform piano music composed by
Richard Yardumian
between the years 1942 and 1946 and will also perform a transcription of his orchestral work, Armenian Suite, arranged for piano in 1999 by the composer Ofer Ben-Amots as a tribute to the late Richard Yardumian.
Renata was born and raised in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania and had her first instruction in music from her father Richard Yardumian. She studied piano privately with Eleanor Sokolof and theory and composition with the composer and fine artist, Timothy Greatbatch.
Renata majored in music at Temple University in Philadelphia and completed her Bachelor of Arts degree at Sonoma State University after moving to the west coast. She is currently the director of the Coastal Singers, a community based chorus with membership extending from Sea Ranch to Point Arena.
Tickets are $15 in advance and include a drink and small plate of traditional Armenian food. $5 more day of event, if available. Youth 7-17 free.
The Gualala Arts Center, located at 46501 Old State Highway in Gualala, CA,
is open weekdays 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and weekends from noon to 4:00 p.m.
