The Gualala Arts Concert Series is pleased to present the leading Argentine pianist Marta Felcman in a performance of music by Brahms, Debussy, and J.S. Bach/F. Busoni. The concert will take place on Sunday, October 16, 4 pm, at the Gualala Arts Center. An internationally-known recitalist, soloist, and chamber musician, Ms. Felcman started piano studies at the age of four in her native Buenos Aires. Later, she continued her studies in Vienna, London, and in New York City, where she now makes her home. Winner of important piano competitions in Argentina, she has also performed widely in South America, Europe, and the United States. Marta Felcman's performances have won critical acclaim in the press wherever she has appeared. She has been praised for her sensitive musicianship and interpretive genius. The Richmond, Virginia, Times hailed her performance as "one of the finest recitals in this writer's memory... power and dexterity... pure musical enjoyment." The renowned British pianist Peter Katin wrote, "Her Schumann has to be one of the most imaginative performances I have heard." Her debut CD, released in 2002 by Jay Records (UK), includes works by Scarlatti, Bach/Busoni, Guastavino, Schumann, and Ned Rorem, who wrote "not only on my piece, but all the others are played with care, understanding and prowess." Tickets for the concert are $15. Children ages 7 through 18 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Advance tickets are available at Gualala Arts Center or at the Dolphin Gallery in Gualala.
