Gualala ArtsPromoting public interest and participation in the arts since 1961.Archive of past events: 2004 through 2014
This free, self-guided tour along a 25-mile stretch of Highway 1, from The Sea Ranch to Point Arena, is the perfect way to spend a leisurely day or an entire weekend. The participating artists you meet along the way are happy to demonstrate the creation of their art and share their unique vision. A free, full-color catalog will help you make the most of your tour. It contains a description of each artist, along with a detailed map and directions to each studio. While on the road, look for the bright yellow signs to help guide you along the way. Note that the catalog is a must when visiting artists on The Sea Ranch, since directional signs are not allowed along that section of Highway 1.
You can begin your adventure by stopping at the Discovery Gallery, 39140 South Highway 1, Gualala, CA, located in the Seacliff Center, above Trink's Cafe, on the west side of Highway 1 (elevator accessible), to preview the work of Studio Tour artists and to pick up catalogs with maps. Catalogs will also be available at Gualala Arts Center, Dolphin Gallery, Mendocino Art Center, Elk Artists Collective, Coast Highway Artist's Collective, various local galleries, businesses, local markets and inns along the way.
Discovery Gallery Preview ShowThe Discovery Gallery Preview Show for the Studio Discovery Tour opens with a gala opening reception on Friday, June 27 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. 2014 marks the 22nd Annual Studio Discovery Tour and the 3rd year of the Discovery Gallery Preview Show for the Tour. Join the artists of North Coast Artists' Guild's (NCAG) Studio Discovery Tour as we celebrate opening night for our "pop up gallery" preview show.
Although the "official" hours of the reception are 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., we will continue the party on into the evening with all the art lovers who can make it and want to stay later. All the artists on the Studio Discovery Tour this year will be there, as will examples of their work. There will be plenty of beer, wine, soft drinks and food too. Come have a glass of wine with us, meet the artists and figure out which studios to visit this year; and if you're in the mood, get first crack at buying some unique art.
