Art in the Landscape
Opening Reception: Friday, June 7 at 5:00 p.m.
Exhibit remains through June 30, 2013
Gualala Arts Center grounds
Gualala Arts will present an exhibit titled "Art in the Landscape," curated by Art Dreyer, from the opening reception on Friday, June 7 from 5 to 7 p.m., through June 30 on the grounds of the Arts Center.
Take your art outside! While the gardens of the Gualala Arts Center are enjoyed by all for the beautiful plantings and trails, for this exhibit they are envisioned to be a setting for artists and their artwork.
Artwork will occupy the landscape: terraces, amphitheater area, and picnic area, nature gardens with walks, trails and trees, including the meditation grove surrounded by old growth redwood remnant stumps.
The full scope of art media may include sculpture, ceramics, fabrics, glass, painting and photography, and any other media this outdoor setting inspires. With permission of the curator, fragile works could be mobile and closeted after hours. Night lighting is also a possibility. Music, performance art and culinary art can "round out" this experience, so any ideas in these areas would be welcome.
June will be a wonderful season of redwoods and flowers. So come reconnoiter the landscape around the Arts Center now to get inspired with an outdoor vision. Tours are available through Art Dreyer. The
registration form is available online and at the Arts Center office.
The Gualala Arts Center, located at 46501 Old State Highway in Gualala, CA,
is open weekdays 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and weekends from noon to 4:00 p.m.
