Warps and Wefts
Opening Reception: Friday, July 6 at 5:00 p.m.
Exhibit remains through July 29, 2012
Gualala Arts Center
This is a juried exhibit of structures created by the interlacing of warp and weft.
The basic principle of weaving is the same today as it was in prehistoric times. Woven goods, whether baskets of the ancients or textiles of the modern power loom, are made by interlacing lengthwise materials with crosswise materials.
"Warps and Wefts" is about what can be created with this simple weaving structure. This is not just a weaving exhibit. Artists are encouraged to adapt their media to meet the criteria of 'warp and weft.'
