"Wet Paint"
|
The Wet Paint 2005 exhibition will open with a gala reception on Saturday, December 10, with the awarding of $1,000 in prizes. To make this year's event even more appealing, we will be awarding five separate "best of" awards in different media. The first juried show open to all media to be held at Gualala Arts - Wet Paint 2004 - was so successful that it will become an annual event. As last year, the jurors will make their selections from the actual pieces of art, minimizing the time between the jurying and hanging the show. The jurors will also choose five pieces that meet their criteria for excellence of execution and vision. Finally, they will be challenged with the task of presenting a beautiful exhibition in the Gualala Arts' Burnett Gallery. The North Coast Artists Guild has signed-up two eminent jurors - Don Bishop and Tamsen Donner - both experienced artists in a variety of artistic media; and both currently showing at the Quercia gallery in Duncan Mills through October 30. Entries must be delivered to the Gualala Arts Center between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 7, and artists must return on Friday, December 9, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to retrieve any non-accepted pieces. The exhibition will close on Sunday, January 8, with pickup of unsold art from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9. Be sure to join us for the opening reception from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10th for the awards ceremony and to view the Best of 2005. Gualala Arts Center is located at 46501 Old State Highway in Gualala, and is open from 9 am to 4 pm weekdays, and weekends from noon to 4 p.m. Please call (707) 884-1138 for more information.
