Traditional and Art Quilts |
The Pacific PieceMakers Quilt Guild will have a showing of traditional and art quilts in the Elaine Jacobs Foyer for the holiday season, hung under the direction of Carol Tackett. It has become a tradition, started by Karel Metcalf, that the foyer be warmed and decorated with quilts as the winter weather arrives on the coast. Many of these quilts, made especially for festive occasions, will be for sale. The 117 members of the Quilt Guild will be again making 'comfort quilts' this month, which are then given to local law enforcement officers to be carried in their cars. The group made 80 quilts which were sent to the victims of the Katrina Hurricane so they are needing quilters to replenish the supply. Gualala Arts Center is located at 46501 Old State Highway in Gualala, and is open from 9 am to 4 pm weekdays, and weekends from noon to 4 p.m. Please call (707) 884-1138 for more information.
