Roots & Branches: The Redwood Coast Celebrates Poetry
To honor National Poetry Month, GAC and members of the Third Thursday Poetry Reading and Second Sunday Poetry Group will host "Roots & Branches: The Redwood Coast Celebrates Poetry." This event will include a March 27th through April 19th poetry bookshop/ broadsides exhibit and - on Saturday, April 10th - a Poet's Day of free Poetry Workshops, an Open Mic, and evening event of selected readings and performance by featured poet Gary Young..

Poetry Bookshop/ Broadsides exhibit
All poets are encouraged to enter their work in the Poetry Bookshop/ Broadsides exhibit to be held in the Elaine Jacob Foyer. A broadside is being defined as "any way of presenting a poem that the poet feels is appropriate." If you're interested, here's the skinny:

Broadsides pieces (or books) must be turned into the Gualala Arts Center by March 25 (Gualala Arts Center will be open March 25, 9:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. to accept entries). Entries can also be brought to the CITYARTS Third Thursday Poetry Reading (7:00-9:00 p.m.) on March 18. If these times are inconvenient, feel free to call the Gualala Arts Center or Joost Romeu (707-884-5059) to make alternate arrangements. Each artist may enter up to three broadsides and as many books as he or she would like. A standard entry fee of $5 is required (regardless of how many pieces are submitted). Items should be price marked or specified "NFS" (not for sale). Note that GAC will retain 30 percent of the total sale price.

Saturday, March 27, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. - Broadsides Opening Reception at Gualala Arts Center.
All are invited. No admission fee. Complimentary wine and beverages will be served. Participants are encouraged to bring appetizers for sharing.
