Auditorium Exhibit: |
In March, GAC proudly presents the color drenched collection of photographer Peter W. Stearns. In celebration of his new exhibit and book, ãA Journey in Timeä, the California Native Plant Society hosts a dinner on March 26th at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $15; dinner precedes a slide show and book signing. Those visiting the Gualala Arts Center can view Peterâs collection from March 27th through April 19th. The wildflowers of Mendocino County are the subject of Stearnsâ newly publicized book and will adorn the walls of our auditorium for one month. Travel through the seasons as Stearns captures the essence of January Milk Maids, April Bleeding Hearts and July Fireweed. The focus is native plants as experienced in their natural environment. Peterâs book is a testament to this as he includes over 300 photos and descriptions of awesome western flowers and landscapes. A long time resident of Ukiah, California, Stearns has been photographing Mendocino Countyâs wildflowers for over fifty years. In an excerpt from ãA Journey in Timeä the author states, ãI see in the beauty of wildflowers a capsule of time, a way to look back into the past and to look toward the future. It is imperative that we humans share our planet equally with all other life forms.ä Peterâs work is an invitation to explore
our partnership with nature and allows us a treasured glimpse into the
phenomenon of Mendocino wildflowers. |
