A Sample of the Donations
To see all the art and non-art items, watch the slide show in the Gualala Arts Center foyer and come see them "in person" starting May 23 in the Coleman Auditorium.
The Silent Auction includes some special items valued over $500, including an antique French 18K gold ring with six diamonds surrounding a large citrine topaz, an seascape oil painting by Sunny Franson, a mixed media abstract by Dianne Newman, a pastel by Glenna Hartmann, a mid-century modernist wall tapestry by European artist Raymond Hurtu, and three small oil paintings of the English country-side by renowned English artist William Cave Day.
There are nearly 100 "Off the Wall" selections to choose from, so not all of them can be listed here. But here is a sampling as a teaser: several local artists are represented, including Magaret Bolt, Meris Emory, Susan Dawes, Steve Chell, Kalynn Oleson, Jennie Henderson, Anne Kessler, Sandy Gravich, Wendy Bailey, Bruce Jones and many, many more.
There are items from nationally and internationally known artists, including two signed posters by Patrick Nagel, three lithographs by Jack Stuppin, a poster by Al Agnew, art glass signed by Richard Blenko, a certified "Aristide Bruant" by Toulouse Lautrec, a lithograph by Miró, and many more fine selections. The non-art choices include a facial from Gualala Sea Spa, a Cuban dinner by Linda & Jorge Dorticos, a mushroom hunt and breakfast from Jeanne & Rick Jackson, two nights at "Inn at the Opera" in San Francisco, plus several more options.

#56 Spring Stream - Glenna Hartmann ($825)
Silent auction
Pastel, 1998. Glenna Hartmann (1948-2008) enjoyed painting the historic ranchos and remote ranchlands of Santa Barbara and Marin counties; she also collaborated closely with her good friend Ellen Easton in the realization of a series of books published by the Easton Gallery, where her work was represented for 18 years. Many of Glenna's painting adventures culminated in important shows and sometimes in national art magazine articles. Ray Strong called her the most fully realized painter in California. Item includes magazine article and original receipt.
#9 Citrine Topaz Ring - Unknown ($665)
Silent auction
Antique ring from France, with hand-twisted 18K gold wire setting, 6-1 pt diamonds and large 10-12 carat Citrine Topaz. Size 8¼.
#7 Aristide Bruant - Toulouse Lautrec ($?)
Certified Print. This poster is a certified reproduction of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec's 1893 color lithograph Aristide Bruant, dans son Cabaret (Aristide Bruant, in His Cabaret). The original is part of the Milwaukee Art Museum's collection.
#10 Blenko Blown Glass Pitcher - Richard Blenko ($100)
10½ inch tall hand-blown amethyst glass water pitcher with topaz glass handle. Signed by Richard Blenko. Dated 2000. Bought during a PBS documentary on the Blenko family and the history of glass blowing in America. "Blenko: Hearts of Glass" and "Retro Blenko; Three Designers of American Glass," two documentaries, gave the company national exposure and lead to Blenko glassware being frequently featured in PBS pledge drives nationwide.
#42 Birch Bushes on St. Helena - Jack Stuppin ($250)
Unframed silk screened lithograph, #21 of 100, signed on print, 1994. Jack Stuppin has been exhibiting his work since he was a painting student of Sam Tchakalian, Bill Allan and Jay de Feo at the San Francisco Art Institute in the late 1960s. For a good many years now, he has gone out each day from his beautifully located house in Bodega Bay in search of the right landscape. He drives on the country back roads, stops when he sees a captivating view, takes out his easel, canvas and acrylic paints, begins to picture what he sees and then, almost intuitively, organizes it into vibrant paintings.
#51 House - Anne Kessler ($?)
Original Pastel, Signed by artist. Unframed.
#96 Gift Certificate - Harmony & 'Sus' Susalla ($?)
Local hike led by Harmony, followed by dinner prepared by Sus.
